WELCOME to DAY 3 of GGMFF!

Welcome to DAY 3 of GlobalGirl Media Film Festival 2021! On Friday night we screened our festival feature, I Am Belmaya, a film by by Sue Carpenter and Belmaya Nepali. We can confirm that there were no dry eyes in the house watching this compelling story play out on screen! This touching documentary takes viewers on a journey with Belmaya, a Nepalese filmmaker facing many challenges as a woman and a mother. If you would like to read more about this film, keep a look out for our newsletter after the festival. It will be sent to your inbox once you’re signed up! Also, if you missed it, do not worry! As long as you have a pass, you can head over to our website and catch-up on past sessions.

So, Day 3! What have we got in store? Well, we are welcoming more powerful and inspiring women to our virtual screens!

Kicking off the day we have a live networking workshop on Zoom at 11AM GMT, with some of our Global Girls. What better way to start another lockdown weekend than by meeting and interacting with likeminded people, while gaining valuable tips and insight along the way on how to confidently interact with people both online, and in person? We love that. Head here to book your tickets!

Next up at 12PM GMT, another super exciting workshop focusing on developing and pitching ideas within the creative industry in collaboration with Sister Studio, a multi-disciplinary creative studio with roots in both London and New York! Whether it be fashion, music, beauty, art & culture, or all of the above that you’re into, there’s something for everyone to learn! Get your tickets here.

At 1PM GMT, we have ANOTHER great session! A career talk delivered by Uzma Mir, followed by Finding your Voice, a live interactive workshop led by Tamara Jacobs, Content Strategist at Reuters Plus, an international news organisation with roots in both London and New York. Tamara was also one of the founding members of GlobalGirl Media in 2014, so it’s a pleasure to have her. With an MA in Publishing Studies, and 13-years’ experience in digital media, Tamara knows her stuff! It’s bound to be insightful, no matter what your interests are. Head here for tickets. Tamara will also be holding another workshop, Sunday at 4PM GMT, Developing your Story. You can book your tickets here!

Don’t forget to tune in to our live player at 3PM GMT, where some of our GGM filmmakers will be discussing sexual harassment and violence, as well as touching on disability and mental health and how they are represented in film. What steps can we make as women, and creators to make a positive change, and gain back these narratives?

To round off this jam-packed day of goodies, we will be hearing from BBC World News Broadcaster and GGM U.K. Ambassador, Yalda Hakim with a Career in Media Q&A. We’ll be getting some industry tips and tricks, and a little more about her journey and how she got to the position she is in today at 6PM GMT.

What a day! We know! So, grab your snacks and beverage of choice, Saturday is sorted!

We can’t wait to see you all.
